Launch Party!
by Herr Ed
The World Cup Hippo Launch Party is the first major social event of this World Cup year. The party is taking place on Friday 24th February at an undisclosed location on Stratford-upon-Avon’s delightful Waterside.
Contributors Herr Mark, Herr Ed and Herr Danny will be there - and rumour has it Eastern correspondent Jimu may be flying in from Japan. Local celebrities who might pop in include John Nettles, Ash from Casualty, and Geoff Amos formerly of Stratford Town. Unfortunately Dion Dublin has just moved to Celtic reducing the likelihood that he will be popping his head round the door to pass on his best wishes.
It is also rumoured that our rival website World Cup Hare (hosted by Herr Hare - pictured) is having its launch night on the same evening. If the two rival sites meet it could be quite an evening! The World Cup Hare contributors adhere to values quite alien to World Cup Hippo: such as a strict adherence to 4-4-2, the on-pitch decency of Dennis Bergkamp, and the purpose of Kieron Dyer.
To win two VIP tickets to the World Cup Hippo Launch Party simply complete the following sentence:
Emile Heskey was walking along with his magnetic banjo when he saw a big barn with a metal door. He swung his magnetic banjo at the metal barn door but failed to hit it because…

…the barn door needing to be both light and rust-proof was obviously made of aluminium, a non-ferromagnetic material. The barn door frame however, whilst still needing to be rust-proof, does not need to be manoeuvrable, so was made from galvanised steel which is ferromagnetic. As the banjo was swung towards the door, the magnetism between the frame and the banjo became strong enough to divert the trajectory of the banjo to such a degree, that it missed the barn door and came to rest on the door frame instead.
School boy error Emile!

…his night-vision goggles had malfunctioned making him underestimate the distance between himself and the barn door by a good ten feet.

I’ve just heard that Richard Griffiths might be able to make the Launch Party.

We’re also hoping Dennis Bailey, former QPR player now Stratford Town, might also pay us a visit.

Is it true some members of Roscoe’s Dog will be appearing?
