Contributor Profiles (2)
by Herr EdNow that WCH has been going strong for several months, we thought it was about time we introduced the team! Below are introductions to a selection of our contributors with reference to their footballing prowess. Click here to read profiles on our other team members.
Herr Danny is almost identical to Siena and Croatia centre-back Igor Tudor in both talent and personality. Voted ‘No-nonsense defender of the Year’ in 2001, Igor is one of the hardest tacklers the world has ever seen but also one of the nicest guys around. Herr Danny believes that football is not art or science, it is industry. Multiply Des Walker by 17 and you get close to the unbeatability of the man more commonly known as ‘Mr Unbeatable’. Danny’s childhood heroes were Dave Watson and Claudio Gentile and he now idolises Jaap Stam. His motto is ‘football is like mashing potatoes’ and who are we to argue with that sentiment. Tip for the World Cup - USA.
Dynamic, fleet-footed, ingenious, tireless runner, the most exciting prospect of recent times. These are all phrases that Herr Neil likes to think applied to his footballing skills the best part of a decade ago. Now a mere shadow of his former self, glimmers of teenage skill occasionally show themselves, but merely serve as painful reminders of halcyon days. Herr Neil’s World Cup counterpart: Alessandro Del Piero or Iran’s Ali Daei.
Ferocity, drive and a canny business sense are just some of words never used to describe this likes-to-fill-the-hole midfielder. Dining out on his Italian heritage since birth, Herr Paul nonetheless possesses bite in the tackle and a killer pass, able to unlock any defence at any time in any weather conditions – a complete midfielder, a slightly less ginger Paul Scholes with more skill. His modesty has also been praised on numerous occasions. The World Cup player closest to Herr Paul’s style is probably Kaka…or Owen Hargreaves.
This is how the WCH contributors fit into the England line-up:

With the minimum of fuss the team can switch to 4-4-2 with Joe Cole dropping back to left midfield and Jimu moving into a more central position.

I think we should push G Neville, Rooney and J Cole to the back three and leave the real men up front doing the hard work of running the midfield and scoring the goals. With Herr Mark and Herr Danny bolstering the midfield, and Herr Andy as the ‘Crouch man’ to Herr Neil’s boisterous darting runs, we’d surely be on to a winner.

Can we not bench G Neville and utilise Hargreaves?

I’d like to hear about Herr Paul’s Italian heritage.

Herr Paul has been to Italy five times

I hope Herr Sven can persuade Herr Paul not to renounce his English heritage. We can’t afford to lose his kind of talent to the Italians.

Herr Paul for England!

The 4-4-2 would be a preferred for Jimu simply because he has Herr Ed alongside, the tandem workings causing even Mr Lawton to down pens in awe

I think Herr Mark would work better in Joe Cole’s position where he can put his pace to good use.

Just put Herr Neil in Robinson’s place and move Robinson to Forward
