Facets
by JimuAs we are gloriously aware, the actual sport at the World Cup is merely a sideshow to the myriad sensationalist, gymnastic, comedic, tear-jerking, creative and thought-provoking circuses that surround and envelope it. One of my favourite elements is the musical montage, a technique that will be sadly lacking in any post-live-reminiscipackages here in Japan, clearly being a feat of modern sports broadcasting yet to be mastered on these simple shores. To compensate for the aural malnutrition I am already foreseeing, I would like to pose a question.
What would be your dream musical montage (bearing in mind choice of subject and score)?

If only Cristiano Ronaldo was 1 year younger I would go for Teenage Dirtbag by the never popular Wheatus to a montage of his failed flicks and slips. But it obviously is not meant to be.

Whether Luis Boa Morte features in the Portugal squad or not, I’d like to see a pictorial paean to his game accompanied by Sash’s ‘Ecuador’.

I’m still quite suprised that some enterprising indie band hasn’t written a song featuring the line “…and England lose on penalties.” Nearly guaranteed coverage to an audience of ~20 million every two years. One for the newly reformed Kula Shaker to think about I feel.
