Given the high level of US corporate sponsorship present at this year’s world cup, will there be a place for Ronald McDonald on the USA team bench? Or will Bruce ‘pull a Sven’ and take the relatively untried youngster, Smiley, the Walmart smiley face?

I’d go for Claudio Reyna and John O’Brien in central midfield, Landon Donovan on the left and DeMarcus Beasley on the right with Eddie Johnson up front with Brian McBride. USA work best with pace on the flanks and a good solid central midfield pairing. Reyna wouldn’t put up with any nonsense from Pavel Nedved.

Are the USA going for the most symmetrical formation award?
May 15th, 2006 at 12:29 pm
No. The award was scrapped due to Happy Shopper withdrawing their sponsorship after Japan/South Korea 2002.

Keller wears glasses off the pitch but not on the pitch. Fills you with confidence.

How is the Pope playing for the USA. Surely the Vatican would have to enter, or he’d have to play for Germany. Also - would he ever be ruled offside? Does being infallible carry an unfair advantage?

I’m more concerned about Jason Donovan playing just behind the main strkier. Surely he should be in a more withdrawn role.

Is Gibbs the last remaining member of the BeeJees? Will he be wearing a specially designed disco-kit with sequins? Is his funky jive better suited to the Atlanctic 2-5-2 formation mentioned elsewhere in this site?
